The Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Open Mapping Hub has organized a collection of month-to-month talks that present the contribution that open and collaborative mapping could make to humanitarian work and sustainable improvement.
Discussing and disseminating humanitarian points from the attitude of collaborative digital cartography is a pending want in these instances of local weather change, environmental destruction, political and social crises, migrations and well being emergencies.
That’s the reason on the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Open Mapping Hub we determined to arrange a cycle of month-to-month talks that tackle humanitarian and improvement points from a cartographic perspective, that’s, exhibiting the contribution that citizen science and open and collaborative mapping can do to humanitarian work and sustainable improvement.
So, final Thursday, August 17, we inaugurated this cycle of conversations with the speak: “The problem of digital humanitarianism in Latin America and the Caribbean”. Our visitors had been: Catalina Jaime, Head of local weather and battle at Crimson Cross Crimson Crescent Local weather Middle and Simone Lucatello, Director of the analysis program on the Dr. José María Luis Mora Analysis Institute. The second version of this cycle of Hub-LAC talks will probably be held subsequent Friday, September 22 and its theme – throughout the framework of Mobility Week and World Automobile Free Day- would be the mapping of city public transportation.
